That looks like a good candidate to me. As Ben and Arvensis pointed out it would be a very unusual example of a Horse Mushroom that you had there Kieth! A likely candidate might be 'The Prince', which is still edible. Just don't eat anything similar that bruises yellow. My uncle bob and his wife will testify to that and Bob's a very adept amateur mycologist. He just got sloppy whilst reaping nature's rewards!

keith, what habitat did you find your 'shroom in? The Prince is normally found in woodland. Scaly Rob might be right. 1 useful ID characteristic of Horse Mushrooms is that they smell of aniseed. they are very large and as the common name suggests, are often associated with horse pasture not woods.

have you found any others lately?
