Just spent a few days in North Yorskhire where the late snow was melting fast. Amongst the patches of white stuff was a slough, and closeby its possible former owner:

Well spotted Will. I didn't realise that the adders would emerge with snow on the ground in the UK. It's not even a sunny day!

a pic of adder with snow in the uk is probably more of a 'holy grail' than a pic of combat...oh, you've got both!!! great stuff will. well done

@Tim - thanks mate, have to admit I've wanted a 'snow adder' for some years!
@Jason - I think it's common inside the arctic circle to see adders and snow - even traversing it - for obvious reasons, but I've not seen it in the UK til now, myself. It was cloudy when I took the photo, but had been a sunny morning and roughly 12degC. Reckon I was lucky to spot it before it went under cover. |
