I recently found a natural pond which was dried up to a small puddle, and decided to see whatĘs in there. I caught some tadpoles (which I know how to look after) but I also caught 2 little newt larvae which are only about 2cm's long. They are definitely newts I have checked, but I don't know what type of newt they are as they are so small. Anyway I am looking after the newts separately to the tadpoles as I hear the tadpoles will eat them. But I don't have a clue on how to look after these newt larvae, so can someone please help me out here by telling me how to look after newt larvae, like what they eat ectą

Thanks

Hi Pike,

Newt larvae will eat anything that wriggles and is small enough to fit in their mouths. It's possible to collect small water bugs from a pond with a fine mesh net, but much easier to buy tubifex worms or daphnia from an aquarium supplier.
