Much to my delight my little garden pond is full of tadpoles of different sizes. Some are quite large and are just developing their hind legs, some have no legs yet and others are still very small and have no legs.Today I saw about half a dozen very tiny froglets, all smaller than my fingernail, one at least with its tail almost gone, and which had left the pond and was sitting in some plants. It was, like the others, very tiny indeed, smaller than my finger nail, but fully-formed.

I'm wondering why these very tiny taddies are now fully-formed froglets, while the other, much bigger ones, still seem to have a long way to go.
