Out today playing with camera settings for reptiles, none out at the time so had a go with a ground spider. Some will know I'm arachnophobic, fortunately it doesn't bother me in the field, only in houses!  Not sure though if I knew his(her?) beady little eyes were staring back at me I would have been so brave lol. I'm rubbish with spider ID, so if anyone can help out I would love to know the species. I'll try and get some more pics because we have really good numbers of ground spiders this year and would like to learn a bit about them.

gemma, i'm fairly sure that's a nursery web spider probably Pisaura mirabilis. hopefully you'll see females soon carrying their egg sacks. quite beautiful. tom

| Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for the females, just looked them up on the web and look similar to others I've seen. Managed to tolerate a house spider yesterday evening running about in the living room, so I think my therapy is working. (was a little one though!) |
