Hello!

Sorry for my English... I am a French frog! Wink

I saw that orange frog close to the Cow Green Reservoir in the North Pennines last Sunday. I would like to know the name of the species if it is possible.

The colors are quit close to the reality. It was a really bright specimen.

Thank you!

Hi the species is common frog Rana temporaria the colouration is not what I would describe as 'normal' but there are increasing numbers of reports of red or orange frogs being found, I've seen a few but this one is particularly striking!

Our ID page gives pictures of what I would describe as more normal specimens:

If you look at your pictures then at the ID pictures you will see the banding on the hind legs and patch behind the eye which provide identification of the species.

PS you English is a lot better than my French!
