This is a pic of Silvery Y that seemed to be blending in on a brick in my back yard. dont see many of these about round here any one else seen them keith

Isn't that a Silver Y? I see them every now and then in Durham, not seen any this year as yet.

It is a Silver Y and unusually for many moth species very much diurnal in its habits. The Goat moth gets its name from the larvae apparently smelling of goats!

Here's an Oak Beauty i found under similar circumstances much earlier in the year (a late winter flying species). Designed to mimic the tree lichen on which it rests during the day, doing it a disservice on my brick wall. Drunken stupor must have taken hold and i forgot to turn off the porch light.....again Beer
