We're back in business!
So far as the future is concerned there are no plans for significant changes to RAUK. It will continue to run as a wholly independent online resource where you can discuss our herpetofauna in the forum and use the other resources such as the identification pages.
For more information, please see the news item on the home page.
I hope you will all forgive me if the odd error should turn up over the next short while until I get the hang of administering the site and forum.
In the meantime, I think we all owe a huge debt of gratitude to Gemma for the time, money and effort she has put into maintaining our favourite resource over the last few years.
Please feel free to agree with me!

Yep I agree, ooops no perhaps I shouldn't

Thanks guys, but I would like to express my thanks to Chris. Few will know just how busy he was in those dark days when the pages showed 'Forum Closed' getting everything ready to see if it was possible to bring the site back online and overcoming the hurdles that cropped up. Chris has just the right mix of enthusiasm for the site and the technical knowledge to make it all happen.

Many thanks Chris,

And all the best with running the site into the future

Gemma - you forgot to say "and, oh yes, Chris is a sucker" !

But, thanks for your support, help and good wishes anyway.

Chris

Hi Alan
I certainly don't mind. In fact, that is an area where all/any help will be appreciated.
The database was imported "as is" so your rights/status should be unaltered.
All the best
Chris

Good news that RAUK is back up and running, a big thanks to Gemma to set-up this site and to let it carry on under Chris who also deserves a big thanks too.

If there's any help you need Chris, then let me know.

Cheers, Mark

Thanks Mark.
In fact, my thanks to all of you who have expressed your good wishes and those who have offered help as well - both in this thread and in " http://www.herpetofauna.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2992&PN=1&TPN=4 - Site to close - Not ".
I will never match Gemma's (or many other's) rates of posting, nor indeed, would I have as much useful and interesting information to give. BUT, I'm not here to show off my outstanding prowess and knowledge <hysterical laughter> but principally so that we can all continue to share, enjoy and learn from  the comments of Gemma and all the rest of you. Dave Bird has most succinctly expressed the value and importance of this forum in that other thread so it is my privilege to keep it going - I hope, more importantly than anything else - for the understanding, appreciation and benefit of our beautiful herps.

Chris
