I've just had this in via Blackwater Valley Countryside Management from Mike Preston. It's ocr'd from a bad photocopy so please excuse any mistooks. The map mentioned is an even worse copy so I will try and get a better one for uploading soon.

--------------

Bramshill Task 19th. Oct. 2003.

Bramshill is owned by the Forestry Commission. The area we propose to work on is a system of ponds in which there resides a population of Pool Frogs, these animals have been there for many years and are believed to have originated from Norfolk... Thompsons Field!!?? The area generally is good for reptiles and the site has old Smooth Snake records. A small but dedicated F.C. team (2) do their best with the site but it is becoming overgrown and the pond system is beginning to get choked up. These chaps are dead keen on reptiles & amphibians and indeed consult The Trust regularly regarding management techniques etc. for them and have been instrumental in the Trust acquiring and enlarging other sites. We as a highly effcient, well organised bunch!! could do more to sort out the site in a day than they could probably achieve in a year, so lets show'em wot the pro's can do! This is a new venue for us and we don't do much pond work so it will make a change from the usual pine bashing, although there is pine, birch and willow to clear around as well as in the ponds. So, wellies may come in useful and those who own waders are  encouraged to bring them along. On a serious note these chaps need all the encouragement they can get, it is the reptiles and amphibians they are trying to protect... lets try for a 100% turn out on this one,

Location and site maps are enelosed with your task list, the meeting place the is in the car park as shown on the site map.

Meet 10a.m in the Forestry Comission car park. SU 759613

Recent major brain surgery and or recent death will only he accepted as valid reasons for non attendance on this one. Bring own food + drink. See yer all soon.

Mike (Preston ?) 01483 571416, 07810 184509.

Task is being run by the Herpetological Trust , contact Mike Preston, they would apperciate any extra help.
