The 'slip-wing Hurricane' lovely piccy. Reason for it, the jettisonable upper wing shortened the take-off run and was able to carry extra fuel for ferry flights.

spot on Gemma & Tim it was in the charge of the RCAF in 1939 and returned to England after a year and delivered to F Hills & sons LTD. keith

Blimey Keith steady on!
OK there is no hiding there is an awful lot of Hawker Hind there but with a Bristol Mercury IX glued on the front - so putting two and two together with those markings it can only be a 'Latvian Hind' a grand total of three being delivered. Apparently Latvia specified they wanted the Mercury IX to minimize maintenance issues as it was the same engine they already had in their Gloster Gladiators.

What book would that be Keith? Change books it will make no difference
Hurricane Mk IIC PZ865 'The Last of the Many' the 14,533 Hurricane built and the last, photographed at Langley in the summer of 1944. The banner describes the theaters of deployment of the Hurricane.

Yep the last HURRICANE built Gemma if this was the start of the battle of Britain apart from being a pilot you would be in charge of the observer corp keith
