The very first of the season were comming into flower at Sandwich bay, Kent on monday 23 May.  This is a nationally rare plant but there are thousands at Sandwich.   Also out were Man Orchids Orchis anthropophorum.

I understand that there is a Sand Lizard reintroduction programme at the site, which has had some encouraging signs of success.  However on the day of my visit the weather was dull, cold and windy, so I didn't look for reptiles.
