My other half saw this beauty yesterday whilst walking along the Royal Military Canal at Hythe in Kent - given the large number of crows, magpies and other predatory birds, not to mention cycling families, around it was perhaps being a bit foolish crossing the path but i guess its size gave it some confidence, it was at least 18 inches long and is by far the biggest slow-worm she has ever seen. To make sure it got across safely she hung around and it soon made its way into the grass
