Im a bit confused about this. Is Natrix natrix helvetica the subspecies of Natrix Natrix which occurs in Britain? Or are they the same species? |

Hi Danny, yes, N. n. helvetica is the only subspecies found in Britain. Same species, helvetica is the subspecies. Quite how many races there are seems to depend a lot on who you read. I'm sure someone here can give an educated insight into how this species breaks down.
