Hi,

Apologies in advance for being a novice but please could anyone tell me whether this is a slow worm or a snake?

Our cat brought it into our house tonight. It is still alive so I have released it back into the garden and hope I have done the right thing.

Thank you.

Slow worm that has just shed it's tail.  Releasing it back into the garden was the right thing to do, it will eventually grow its tail back.

The tail they grow back is quite stumpy and the slow worms never have the same agility again.
