Hi everyone!
I'm new to lizards in the UK, mainly because I didn't know we had any
(sorry!). Anyway, I do now because I found one. Thinking it was dead, I scooped it up on some paper to give it a decent
burial, at which point it moved a teensy bit. Still thinking along the newt
line I took it into a shady corner of the garden at which point it made a dash
for it. So the point of all this is I'd like some advice please. Are they happy living in a conservatory? It's flipping boiling in the summer and freezing in the winter. Last year I found a dried body of a 'newt' and another time a dried tail so I assume this live one wasn't an isolated occurrence. I'm more than happy to leave them be but just thought I'd seek some expert advice on how well they do indoors! Thanks in advance :) |

Hi Lesley
A hurried reply I'm afraid. A conservatory is not really the best place for a lizard. Their natural habitat is an area of reasonably dense vegetation with open spaces for basking. You certainly did exactly the right thing and it will doubtless sort itself out now - so long as it can avoid cats! All the best Chris |
