Only one thing wrong with the article - the 30,000 reptiles were not moved locally to Essex or even a bit further to Sussex (as it says in the article) but were dumped on a grassland reserve in Wiltshire owned by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust part of which they subsequently proposed for a solar energy farm. There were some posts on this site about it at the time.
I wonder how many of those 30,000 reptiles survived, doubt if it was a high percentage.
