Spotted this bad boy whilst out for a stroll near the Breacon Beacons, there were a series of pools with frog orgies going on with your usual European frogs and then there was this black and orange guy on the sidelines. Is he/she a natterjack toad as a friend of mine suggested or something else, it's colouration is completely out of sorts for the surrounding area so just wondering if it may be a pet let loose.

Hi and welcome to the forum. This wonderfully marked and coloured animal appears to be a Common Frog possibly exhibiting one of the most extreme forms of their tremendous variability in markings and colours that I have ever seen. Beautiful animal.
PS to user "Fafniar" who is following this thread - please amend your email address in Members Control Panel, as requested on several occasions as I keep getting rejected emails from your incorrect address. Chris |

Wow what a stunner. I've seen photos of Common Frogs with that level of extreme colouration and patterning but I've never been lucky enough to find one for myself. I'd have loved to have been able to get some shots of that one. Thanks for sharing!
