Got a phone call from a friend today who'd found a snake lying by the side of the road while cycling. The snake was moving a bit but seemed in a bad way. I got there about 20mins later by which time the snake was unfortuanately dead. The snake in question was a Baird's Ratsnake about 120cm long. Absolutely beautiful animal and a real pity. It's now in my freezer until I can get in touch with the local IHS group to see if anyone had reported one missing. I know it wasn't a native animal but it's a real shame to find one this way none the less.
