An exciting new habitat creation project is moving to planning application to Essex County Council. Essex ARG has sent their views regarding the impacts of the project on adders and lizards which are found on the seawalls around Wallasea Island

info - www.rspb.org.uk/wallasea

The EARG has suggsted that surveys of the reptiles would be required which should involve photo ID of all the adders found around the work areas on the seawalls. The EARG would hope that the adders can be monitored in the future with this photographic record so that future projects can be fully informed.

Previous works on the DEFRA site did not include monitoring or photo id on the adders which were moved around the seawall away from the breaches.

Please do send in your views to the council
