Berus and parasites

I just wondered why that in over 20 years of heathland reptile observation , I've never seen a V.berus with external parasites. Sand and common lizards with ticks , grass snakes with ticks , My legs covered in ticks!, but never adders. Is there something in their blood that repels these parasites, or have others seen them on adders?
