Hi all had look at a once prolific adder lac viv grass & sloworm site near High Beech. the actual site to look at still seemed the same as far as its flora features ie heather and bracken but some small dew ponds have dried up and some completely dissapeared that once held newts etc also sadly have so have the adders gone that were once more abundant then the grass snakes were ,you could not go out and not fail to see one sleeping in the tussocks and heather + the sloworm seems to have completey vanished .there were a few common liz, about but not as thick on the ground as they once were. But I did see two grass snakes balled up who slid off before I could photo them + see another in a different area that was a bonus but the heath seems to have lost its vitality, also in the old days you could see deer that freely roamed the forest until the health and safety management moved them by force to a new habitat in Hainualt years ago. perhaps thats what is happening to the forest reptiles ? dont forget they could be sued if an adder bit a member of the public whilst under their management , I agree with Rob a complete decline in the forest through what I would say is mismanagement by those who have not got clue or feel for the job but only in it for their own self elation in this pc new world order of health and safety .I think the late Fred Speakman if he was alive would have been horrified at the state of things within the forest today. ............did have another bonus 2day I heard my first cuckoo this year at Nazing................................................ ............... Hi Tony no doubt thats on the cards the next thing will be a card swiping turnstile entry to the forest & you will also need an induction course on health and safety and you will have to submit plans for your visit & for your route after being vetted by mi5 to see what political ideology you have so it dont clash the present self voted in English nature regimes policies, This will have to be completed days ahead of your visit, also you will be monitored on route by cct cameras that will be placed in strategic positions within the alloted bitumen paths that you will have to adhere to, that will take you past electronic displayed talking notice boards in multi cultural languages telling you what you might not see in the forest . ,plus the wearing of safety helmets in case a leaf laden twig falls on you will also need anti stab vests to protect you from cattle and binge drinking footpads that are allowed roam within the forest compound . Plus goggles and breathing apparatus incase of high pollen counts and so it goes on & on with all this pc crap from the brain washed idiots that have ensconced them selves within our sociaty that once relied on common sense alas no more.. Is this the future of things to come ? have a nice day all KEITH

Wandered for several hours around the countryside in north Devon today. Saw one man walking and a few cars and we were walking on lanes for about 40 mins. In East Devon on such a sunny Sunday it would have been very busy today. It has got busier in many places over the last 30 years but quiet spots are still to be found. The following two extracts are taken directly from an interp. board. Good to see that someone's looking out for us! The moor can be wild and windy Visitors are reminded that all areas of the countryside contain inherent, natural hazards so we ask you to take suitable and sufficient precautions to avoid injury or harm. |
