one of three newborns from a London site today, several hundred metres apart from each other = 3 litters at least. Anyone seen any others yet?

I had one on Saturday lunchtime when I went looking for a couple of females that one of my adder surveying colleagues had seen early in the morning. I didn't find the females but did find one of this year's newborn ones that disappeared before I could get my camera out. Then this evening I had this photo from Frank, another of my adder surveyor colleagues who got this one at another site about 3 miles away from where I was on Saturday. |

I was away this weekend so couldn't get up to check on the sites but having emailed our core adder surveyors about last weekends sighting of a new born several of them were out on this Saturday and met up on site. They found one neo and then another 7 to give 8 in total, plus 2 females & 1 male adder, a couple of grass snakes nearby and a load of lizards on a wall. Matt and Carl have posted pictures on their blogs today (including a slow-worm site they visited earlier that day) at http://mwilsonherps.wordpress.com/ and http://carlcorbidgefieldherping.blogspot.co.uk/ |
