Well something I never expected at Marks Tey carboot on Wednesday and much to my horror a pickled snake it was in a kilner jar perhaps this was some form of cooking delicacy that the local Asian population are into ugh!.(ps I did not id it perhaps a corn snake? )
This is one of the horrible things that old foresters of old used to do to adders in places like Hampshires New forest areas and sold them to the tourists as curiosities just like the monks of medievel days did with religious relics for pilgrims, sadly this is one of the reasons for the demise of lots of adders and many smooth snakes in certain areas that all got caught and were extra shillings for the pockets of the then non conservation minded rangers of the day who were just employees of the Verderers in charge keith Edited by AGILIS - 04 May 2013 at 11:03am |

I thought so too, but the way the speckles at the front become stripes towards the tail made me think western whip snake. Now if Keith had blown the moths out of his wallet and bought the item we could ID it for certain..

I guess Keith putting them in pickle jars was at least more creative then destroying their habitat....
