Just saw an adult black lizard looking just like the one in the photo above, Aylesbeare Common, East Devon (along with dozens of 'normal' ones). First one I've seen.

Hi
Last time, during Smooth snake trip I have found two melanistic specimens of Zootoca vivipara. They were totally black. I have asked some polish herpetologist if the saw this black form of Zootoca, but only one person saw one or two melanistic specimens. I've tried to find some publications about case of melanism in Common lizard, but I've found nothing. Did anyone have similar observations? Do you know some references about this? |
