Was out on site by about 9:30 this morning, had a good walk around for a couple of hours, didn't find any herps, but saw some other wildlife. I took some pictures of potential habitat.
Cheers,
James. |

Hello James,
The last 4 images are similar habitat to where I have the best success with V.berus. Thats not to say that the earlier images are not suitable, hopefully someone who has more expierence with different habitat types can share their thoughts.

Hi James,
I would agree with James with regards to the latter photos. I would say that suitable vegetation would consist of a relatively heterogeneous habitat structure i.e. relatively open areas to facilitate thermoregulation with dense vegetation cover close by. Scrub is also very useful in that it provides elements of both (not too dense but enough for protection whilst allowing solar radiation to filter through).
Happy herping and let us know if you find anything

I'm guessing that they were taken at Netley Common in Hampshire as James mentioned this site on the old forum.
