Hi - Don't really know of any groups in Cheshire. I can certainly help you out with sites for Grass Snake and Common Lizard, both fairly abundant. The counties only Slow Worm site is pretty much off limits and Adder is more less an impossibilty being found at only a few inaccessible sites.

Not sure how active the Cheshire group is, but you can also try the North Merseyside Group and the S. Lancs Group.
    - Merseyside: Peter Tipping, North Merseyside Amphibian & Reptile Group, 8 Greenacre Road , Woolton, Liverpool , Merseyside L25 0LH, 0151 2804869, patipping@hotmail.com
    - Lancashire and Greater Manchester: Amphibian and Reptile Group of South Lancashire, David Orchard, 106 Thicketford Road, Tonge Moor, Bolton, BL2 2LU. 01204 529312l; 07817 373853. argsl@btinternet.com

    cheers

Thats a herp keeping society so dont hold your breath about native herps as often keepers dont seem to be very active in the field work side of things though I could be wrong.

I would contact Dr John Baker ARG UK support Officer for more information on getting together with other volunteers in the area

Report your sightings to the Record Pool http://arguk.org/recording
