Saw a pair of courting grass snakes in Essex today, male closely following female and basking with her.  Not sure if mating took place, though.

I took some very bad ones which show the two snakes together behind a lot of vegetation - you'll see what I mean if I post them!

Its not THAT bad.

It is CLEARLY a snake!! LOL

Poor things are really confused this year. They probably started dating back in the spring, and haven't managed to get a dry day to do the business since ........
