I am a naturalist from Leeds who writes about wildlife in the area.

As a frequent visitor to Fairburn Ings RSPB Reserve and Mickletown Ings SSSI (Leeds/Castleford), I have been asked on several occasions if grass snakes are present in this area but have to admit that I haven't got a clue ! I am well clued up on the mammals, birds, amphibians and fauna but not reptiles in the wild.

Does anyone know if there are any snakes present in this area or elsewhere around Leeds where one could see snakes close up ?

Many thanks for any help.

Kind regards

Dave
