hi folks!

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL RAUK FATHERS!

visited my dad today at his home near Minchinhampton and after a meal, a chat and a glass of Westons Vintage Cider (support the local brewers and cidermakers!) i conducted a quick tour of the 6 "tins" i placed around his garden some time ago.

CONDS TODAY; warm, calm but overcast

GARDEN HABITAT DESCRIPTION; a half acre of grassy, west-facing and stepped hillside bordered by dry-stone walling in the typical GLOS style. outskirts of a small country village.
there are a mixture of native/non-native trees and plants.

HERPS PREVIOUSLY RECORDED AT THIS SITE - an occasional toad, common frog, smooth and palmate newt, slowie and (years ago) viv lizard.

ASSOCIATED NATIVE MAMMALS INCLUDE; badger, bank vole, fox, common shrew, roe deer.

DURATION OF SURVEY; 10 minutes (of joy!)

im happy to report that all the slates bar 1 yielded slow-worms of varying size and age.

habitat pic;

probable (?) hibernaculum;

1.

the baby slowie under here scooted - no pic. bah!

2.

2nd youngster;

3.

a nice sub-adult;

4.

a third tiny one in a completely different part of the garden;

5.

the big rubber mat at the bottom of the garden. i only lifted this one partially - there may have been more slowies;

nice adult male;

and finally (if youve got this far )......

6.

there were 2 under here. a sub-adult and an adult;

all the best members,

ben
