hi here is the once beautiful Martlesham heath today near Ipswich the jewel of east anglia and how it was in the 1970s on the os map but now just another commercial industrial park once home to adders and all the regional reptiles and fauna alas no more but there are some bits of heath left in the form of roundabouts on the A12 ANY ONE ELSE HAD THEIR LOCAL HEATHS STUFFED UP? KEITH

As a sweeping generalisation I would say any heaths that were owned by an estate or the MOD have a good chance of still being around, otherwise most likely built on. Sadly the term 'wasteland' which was how they were known reflects the attitude towards them.
